The cupcake bouquet

I am so excited to make a wedding bouquet for Rory.  I have only made one once before. It was a lovely sweet ivory pink vintage button bouquet. I made it for my cousin’s wedding.  I call it the cupcake bouquet because each stem looks like a little lovely scrumptious cupcake.

1. Tell us why, how and when you started crafting?

I started crafting when I was pregnant. The nursery had the be nice. I saw lovely blankets but so (ridiculously) expensive! I thought I would be able to make this myself. Bibs, sheets, playpen blanket, pillows and so much more. When our daughter was born it just became worse. When she slept, mummy would sew. Baby shoes, baby cloths, and a lot more bibs! I never had sewing lessons.  It’s already 4.5 years ago but you can still find me behind my sewing machine every week!   

2. Why do you love crafting?

I enjoy it and it’s so special to make handmade and unique stuff and off course to give handmade presents. It’s so much fun to surprise someone. When I try something new and it works (yes, in my enthusiasm and due to lack of time I sometimes read to fast or don’t think about it properly) gives me energy and stimulants to craft something new.

For me it’s pure relaxation and I am not the type that likes to sit in front of the telly (a lot of people ask me where I find the time to craft) and therefore craft a lot in the evening when I don’t have to work.

3. What is your favourite type of craft?

Sewing.

4. What is the most pretty thing you have made?

I have no idea. After I finish a sewing project I start smiling and feel very proud.

5. Tell us what makes your crafts special?

My creations have a lot of bright colours, (I love red and white polka) dots, flowers, hearts etc. My creations make people cheerful.  I also work a  lot with Photoshop! I just LOVE…COLOUR! (especially red!!)

                        

6. What do you use for inspiration?

My own inspiration (scrap) books. Every time I browse through these books I get new ideas and write these in a notebook. But I also get a lot of inspiration out of stores and off course internet!

7. Would you like to show us were you do your craft magic?

My favourite sewing corner.

8. Would you like to share/include a fun craft tutorial with us?

This is such a sweet and lovely but most of all easy craft and tutorial!

Tutorial

·         Buy a rug or a doily (in a thriftshop) or crouchet it yourself.

·         Dissolve sugar with warm water (1/3 water 2/3 sugar)

·         Let it cool off a little and soak your cloth

·         Wring out the cloth and mold them in a muffin dish, cup or bowl so it gets the shape you like.

·         I left the cloth bowls dry for two days.

·         Done.

You can also use fabric or netting.

9. What sort of crafting would you still love to try out?

I love everything. I would like to learn to crochet better, knit, making soap, making beads. I love crafting!!!!     

10. Have you got any advice for those who would love to start crafting?

Make something you like and enjoy it. You can get so much inspiration tips and tutorials from the internet. And it is even more fun ( and addictive) with a weblog. Lovely contacts, compliments, surprises, I can really recommend this!

Home Sweet Home

Fun! I found this blog today! And every Monday she posts about a lovely little corner in her house.

She has a lovely list of followers, you can find on her blog, that also started a Monday: Home Sweet Home post. And so will I (we).

We moved to this house in December 2008.

Three years later and we are still changing, improving, and adding furniture to our little home. People make fun of us and ask, as soon as we let them in our house, what we changed this time. And I am a little to blame for that as I do tend to change my mind a lot. But our livingroom has now reached a point where we both feel happy with the look and the feel of it.  It just needs a few final touches but we are as good as done….for now.

I love our quircky cornors, our paintings, our handmade creations, the vintage ornaments……….

For my first Home Sweet Home I would love to show you my favorite features in our livingroom.

Scented bags

I am sure we have all had this problem. You open your closet and the smell isn’t nice and fresh, it is a little musty. The perfect solution is a scented bag. In shops you pay a fortune for these scented bags, so why not make them yourself!! The advantage is that you can make them in any size you like and stuff them with anything you like (as long as it smells nice ;p). And (if you are into DIY) sewing these bags is a very therapeutic activity.

What do you need?

• A needle
• Thread
• Some pins
• Fabric (any colour/pattern you like)
• Dried scented flower (for instance rose, lavender, potpourri etc)
• Some ribbon

Step 1

Take a piece of fabric and fold it (fold it so that the inside is on the outside).

Use the pins to pin it together, so it will be easier to sew.

Step2

Sew along the outer sides of the fabric, but make sure you leave the top open.

Step3

Take out the pins (if you haven’t done that already) and turn the little bag inside out.

Step 4

Fill the bag with the dried flowers (of your choosing). And tie the top together with a small ribbon.

There you go! Bye-bye musty closet!!!!

1.Tell us why, how and when you started crafting?

Ever since I can remember I have been crafting with fabric. I started dressing my Barbie dolls and never stopped making things. In school I loved being taught how to sew, knit, crochet, anything. My mum used to make all my clothes so she is an inspiration because she can also make anything.

2.Why do you love crafting?

It’s something I have to do. My head is always full of ideas and projects. And I love it when my ideas become reality.  

3.What is your favourite type of craft?

Sewing and machine embroidering

4.What is the most pretty thing you have made?

I cannot choose because I have made so many things in this life. Usually the last thing I’ve made is the prettiest thing.

5.Tell us what makes your crafts special?

Because I’m so versatile maybe that is special. I can do so many things with needle and thread! I always try to be a bit different, a little outsight the lines.

6.What do you use for inspiration?

Anything! Magazines, music and to be honest sometimes I just make something similar with my own twist.

7.Would you like to show us were you do your craft magic?

Of course! I call it my sweet little room and I’ve shown it already on my blog.

8.Would you like to share/ include a fun craft tutorial with us?

Yes,  no problem. A tutorial on making a little girls wallet.

9.What sort of crafting would you still love to try out?

Machine Knitting. But on the other hand I always say that I don’t want any more hobbies because I haven’t  got the time.

10.Have you got any advice for those who would love to start crafting?

No, just do it. Some people have no technical background and make beautiful things and others do everything by the book. There is no wrong or right way. That’s what great about crafting.

Wedding Invite

I really wish I could get married again. It was such a magical day. Exhausting I can remember, but so very lovely!

I can’t wait to be married, 12.5 years….as we will renew our wedding vowels! Anything to organize a day as wonderful as our wedding day!

This year I have four weddings to attend! So exciting!

I am organizing two hen parties, and one of them Rory’s hen party! She asked me to help with the wedding as a “ceremoniemeester” (wedding planner) So I will be the director on her special day making sure everything goes smoothly! As she was my wedding planner, and she did a terrific job, I am planning to do exactly the same. And on top of that I am making her a green/emerald vintage wedding button bouquet! I can’t wait to show you!

I was also asked to be maid of honour twice at two other weddings and a guest at another. So this year will be the year about celebrating LOVE!

Rory made her lovely green wedding invites together with her hubby. Just like we did back in 2009.

Husband designed our own wedding symbol which I still absolutely adore!!

It’s a pretty flower, with our initials as leaves. Gorgeous!

As we can’t show Rory’s invite just yet I will show your ours. It’s such an easy lovely way to personalize your wedding and set a tone.
